Community Leader Academy

This international program for community leaders is brought to Portugal through 351 Associação Portuguesa de Startups and will select 40 participants with a strong impact on the Portuguese entrepreneurial ecosystem.

On May 3rd and 4th, Portugal will welcome for the first time the Techstars Community Leader Academy program, a very unique program that will train 40 selected community leaders into the Techstars methodology to create entrepreneurial ecosystems. This is a unique opportunity for local leaders to learn the global awarded community development methodology. The program is free of charge and the initiative will be included in the SIM Conference, organized by Startup Portugal, which is set to be one of main startup matching events in Europe.

351 Associação Portuguesa de Startups is responsible for bringing this international program, supported by Techstars (the world’s most active pre-seed investor, having invested in over 4,000 startups) to our country, along with the national partners Turismo de Portugal and Startup Portugal.

This two-day program aims to connect and capacitate participants to build startup ecosystems locally, to create a national plan to develop the startup ecosystem, and to foster a network of community builders that will implement all these initiatives throughout all Portuguese main regions.

The Techstars Community Leader Academy participants will  get access to knowledge and strategies, as well as networking, workshops, seminars and mentorship sessions, to supercharge their local startup communities with the development of initiatives such as the Techstars Startup Week / Weekend, Startup Grind, CreativeMornings, Tech Workshops and others.

“With the Community Leader Academy, we intend to connect all regional communities by co-creating solutions to their local challenges, and designing an execution plan on a local and a national scale”, reveals Fernando Jardim, leader at 351 Associação Portuguesa de Startups.

Applications are now open – they are free of charge, but the places are limited. 351 Associação Portuguesa de Startups is looking for community leaders with an impact role within the ecosystem, namely connected to universities, local administration, incubators, and accelerators, leaders of local initiatives to support founders or tech talent, among other institutions.
