Portugal Tech Week

In 2023, the largest decentralized innovation festival in Portugal reached 18,000 people, with over 220 events across 10 Portuguese cities. This year, the 351 Portuguese Startup Association is preparing an even more impactful edition, featuring initiatives like PTW House, Tech Run, and Tech Days.

Portugal Tech Week, the most significant decentralized innovation festival in Portugal—organized by the 351 Portuguese Startup Association—returns this year for its 3rd edition. From November 8th to 18th, what promises to be the biggest edition ever will take place across the country, featuring a series of mostly free initiatives. Technology, innovation, the future of work, and creativity will be the main themes highlighted in conferences, workshops, exhibitions, and more.

The organization has just revealed the first key events for this year’s edition:

  • PTW House: PTW House will take place in Lisbon and will offer a full week of diverse programming and technology workshops, talks with notable speakers (both national and international), and fireside chats with entrepreneurs and VCs, all of which will be 100% free.
  • PTW Tech Run: This race in Lisbon is expected to gather around 1,000 technology enthusiasts—across categories like fintech, cybersecurity, healthtech, legaltech, and more—who will run distances ranging from 5 to 20 km. The goal is to draw local attention, attract more people to the tech sector, and connect participants with their peers.
  • PTW Tech Days: To attract audiences to cities beyond Lisbon, the organization is working with various municipalities to promote Tech Days, which will feature a high concentration of events and widely publicized workshops. The 351 Portuguese Startup Association notes that locations such as Guimarães, Fundão, Algarve, and Leiria have already expressed interest in hosting the initiative.

“The startup ecosystem in Portugal is much more than what happens within a single event. We are everything that happens across the country, from Faro to Bragança. Our main goal with Portugal Tech Week is to decentralize the ecosystem by empowering and engaging local communities, bringing innovation to every corner of the territory. The growth we’ve experienced since the inaugural edition strengthens our ambition to become one of the world’s largest innovation festivals and to establish Portugal as a global innovation hub. This year, we are even preparing to welcome startups from other countries, expanding our offerings and reach,” says João Baptista, Marketing and Communication Leader of Portugal Tech Week.

In addition to the new initiatives, the 351 Portuguese Startup Association ensures that key events from 2023 will be maintained, such as welcoming delegations (international startups and investors) and coworking days, where large companies will open their doors to the tech community in various locations across the country. Additionally, the organization hopes to significantly expand the number of cities hosting Portugal Tech Week events, as well as the number of people reached.

In line with this mission, the 351 Portuguese Startup Association has opened a call for events, inviting entrepreneurial communities to submit their initiatives to be part of the festival’s official agenda at no cost. Submissions can be made through this link.

The organization also reminds that they are open to collaborating with companies, volunteers, curators, and ambassadors in various fields who wish to contribute to what aims to be the largest and most comprehensive edition ever. For this, simply get in touch.

All event registrations for Portugal Tech Week will be available on the official website, and the initial agenda will be released at the beginning of October. Those interested can already sign up to receive more information and be notified first-hand about confirmed events and updates.
