Coworking Thursdays Porto

The Coworking Thursdays initiative, which aims to bring together entrepreneurs and digital nomads from various sectors to work collaboratively in a coworking space for free, will begin its activities this September in Porto.

The project, led by volunteers, was launched in Lisbon in 2019 with the goal of creating a connected environment, promoting the exchange of experiences among participants, and showcasing the various technology and entrepreneurship hubs available in the city.

The initiative, which emerged with the support of various communities in Portugal, has already taken place in more than 50 locations in Lisbon. These include a mix of events hosted at companies (such as Microsoft, Zomato, and SheerMe), innovation hubs (like Fintech House, Startup Lisboa, Casa do Impacto, and Hub Justiça / Ministry of Justice), and coworking spaces (like Sítio, Heden, and Idea Spaces).

“I discovered Coworking Thursdays through social media and participated for the first time nearly two years ago. Since then, I’ve made it a routine to go every Thursday. Besides being able to work from new coworking spaces in the city, I’ve also made lifelong friends,” says Kaitlin Wichmann, an American digital marketing professional living in Lisbon, who has attended more than 30 editions of Coworking Thursdays.

Stallin Estefferson, a volunteer from the 351 Portuguese Startup Association responsible for the initiative in Porto, emphasizes that “Coworking Thursdays are very popular in Lisbon. As soon as we open registrations, they fill up within the first minute, receiving more than 50 sign-ups in that time. We hope to achieve the same success in Porto.”

The first four editions of Coworking Thursdays in Porto already have set dates and locations. On September 7th and 14th, the initiative will take place at the Vertical Firmeza coworking space, and on September 21st and 28th, it will be held at Porto I/O Downtown. The organization is also looking for venues to host future editions, and interested coworking spaces can get in touch through the initiative’s official website.

It’s worth noting that this initiative is free, allowing participants to carry out their activities at the coworking space between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM on Thursdays, with limited spots available. In Porto, registration for upcoming editions will open two weeks before the event.
